What to do if the Water is too Deep to Excavate in
Here in the South, we’re no strangers to deep water and unstable ground. If this is unfamiliar territory for you, excavating in water that appears to be too deep can be very risky. In these special circumstances, you need an amphibious marsh buggy in order to safely access the area.
Amphibious marsh buggies are specially made to transport, excavate, and transfer debris and brush across wetlands safely without having to drain them. Without having to drain the jobsite, there’s no need to spend all that extra time and money on building temporary roads, levees, or other drainage structures. This will also help shave off a lot of extra time during the reclamation and recovery processes.
How Marsh Buggies Work
With extremely low ground pressure, these buggies can easily float across lakes and streams, even when they’re fully-loaded. This prevents them from getting stuck in the sediment, and also makes them ideal for areas with vegetation that’s too thick for shallow-draft barges to access.
At Stan’s, our amphibious marsh buggies (as seen on the right) are built with “long stick” arms that help them navigate in even the wettest, most difficult terrains.
This equipment is ideal for protecting the environment during excavation. While typical excavators are likely to damage the surrounding wildlife, fish, and plants, marsh excavators are careful and allow for safe digging through heavy vegetation, as well as the construction of levee systems in low-lying areas to hold debris and silt.
